I saw it on the late TV news last night....very unusual, isn't it?

Disturbing indeed, and the public outcry on this will (hopefully) be heard over the next few months.

Anyone remember a movie called Soylent Green?

not at all dawn, it's absolutely great, all this means more food for more people at cheaper prices and higher quality, disturbing is that most people in earth can't eat

ooooh. that opens up an interesting argument, charly. er...

capitalist "progress" has typically meant the end of sustainable practices, forcing populations into overcrowded & decrepit cities when earlier ways allowed individuals to provide for their families.

also, if genetic engineering is any indication, we should also worry: companies like monsanto have created corn, rice, & other crops that don't reproduce, which means the traditional practice of storing seeds to plant future crops becomes lost & futile. also, these GMO hybrid plants have cross-pollinated with non-GMO plants & killed off the reproducing strain as a result.

the corporate trends seem to be towards creating more & more dependent consumers of agribusiness products that have disturbing implications for the future, & not a cornucopia of cheap & healthy foods for the masses. i fear this cloning thing is just part of that disturbing development. i certainly don't trust corporate/political interests working together on this front, at all.

not to mention the whole mad-cow disease phenomenon.
